How Spinal Decompression Works
Unlike basic manual traction or simple stretching, our equipment is computer-controlled, which means the angle, force and timing of each session can be set to target the exact level of the spine that needs attention. This precision allows us to work on a problem disc without placing unnecessary strain on the surrounding structures.
As pressure inside the disc reduces, fluid, oxygen and nutrients are drawn back in, supporting the natural healing environment. For many patients this gentle, repeated process helps to relieve the compression that contributes to pain and restricted movement.
Service
What to Expect From a Session
Treatment is comfortable and entirely non-invasive. You remain clothed and simply lie on a specialised treatment table while the programme runs. Most sessions last between twenty and thirty minutes, and they are delivered as part of a structured plan rather than as one-off appointments, because consistency is key to a good result.
Your plan begins with a full assessment so we can confirm whether spinal decompression is suitable for you. We will explain the likely number of sessions, what each one involves and how we will measure your progress along the way.
What We Treat
Is Spinal Decompression Right for Me?
Suitability is always confirmed during your assessment. If we do not think decompression is the best option for you, we will say so and discuss the alternatives we offer.

FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
Is spinal decompression painful?
No. The vast majority of patients find the treatment comfortable and even relaxing. The forces involved are gentle and carefully controlled throughout each session.
How is it different from traction?
Traditional traction applies a broad, general pull. Spinal decompression uses computer-controlled forces that are directed at specific levels of the spine, which allows for a far more precise and targeted approach.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your individual condition and how you respond. Most people benefit from a structured course of care rather than a single visit, and we will outline the likely number of sessions once we have completed your assessment.
Is spinal decompression safe?
When it follows a proper assessment, yes. We screen every patient carefully beforehand to make sure the treatment is appropriate, because it is not suitable for everyone.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You are welcome to book an assessment with us directly.
